We are an active and friendly club who always welcome new members. The club supports a variety of beekeeping methods, ranging from honey production to keeping bees for the joy of seeing them.
We host an array of different meetings throughout the year, from Apiary visits, coffee mornings and general club get-togethers where there is always tea and cake. Our membership is currently spread across the Sedbergh, Bentham, Settle and surrounding areas.
The Month of June
Continuing on from May, inspecting your hives regularly for signs of swarming is key as bees don't read the books and do what they like when they like, they will always tend to swarm when you least expect it or are unprepared, so make sure you have everything you need in an easy accessible place.
Preparation of supers ready for the honey harvest, making sure you have enough super frames that are all made up and ready to go with wax in. Making sure that the super boxes are in good condition to stop the possibility of bees from other hives robbing.
Checking that you have the correct buckets, glass jars and everything for the extraction of the honey and jarring it up.
